Color, Texture & Alchemy: A New Fine Art Exhibit

This spring and summer, I’m honored to be one of ten female photographers featured in a beautiful new San Anselmo art exhibit at Harvest Wealth Management in downtown San Anselmo.

The exhibit runs from May 1st through August 30th and showcases a diverse collection of work created by the talented women of the Marin Photographer Collective. This San Anselmo art exhibit celebrates creativity, individuality, and the many different ways photography can be transformed into art. Each photographer brings a completely unique artistic voice to the show, making the exhibit feel layered, inspiring, and full of personality.

Amelia Plumb Fine Art - Film Soup

As a Marin County artist and photographer, I’m especially excited to share my newest collection of experimental film photography — a body of work created using vintage cameras, handmade techniques, and a process that embraces unpredictability and imperfection.

My artwork begins on an old Minolta SRT 101 camera from the 1960s using traditional 35 mm film. After the film is exposed, it undergoes an experimental process often referred to as film soup photography. The film is soaked in boiling water along with mixtures of salt, vinegar, lemon juice, dish soap, and other unexpected kitchen ingredients before development. There are endless “recipes” to experiment with, and every roll reacts differently.

That unpredictability is part of the magic.

The textures, color shifts, light leaks, and painterly imperfections created through film soup photography can never be fully recreated, making every image feel organic, emotional, and entirely one of a kind. This kind of handmade experimental film photography is incredibly rare in today’s digital world, where so much imagery is polished, fast, and mass produced.

Film Soup

The artwork featured in this fine art photography exhibit is printed as 8 x 8 images on luxurious metallic fine art paper. The metallic surface gives the work an iridescent glow that subtly shifts as light moves across the image, adding even more depth, texture, and dimension to the artwork.

Each piece is professionally matted to a final size of 12 x 12 and framed, ready to hang in your home.

Because this body of work is still emerging and has not yet been widely circulated, these framed works are currently being offered as rare 1/50 limited edition art prints. Each framed print also includes a signed certificate of authenticity.

These colorful, playful pieces are perfect for children’s rooms, creative studios, colorful interiors, or anywhere you want to add unexpected texture and vibrant pops of color. The work is designed not only to brighten a space visually, but to spark curiosity and conversation as well.

Each framed piece is available for $200.

Marin County artist - Amelia Plumb

As both a photographer and Marin County artist, I’m deeply inspired by the beauty of experimentation and by creating artwork that feels tactile, human, and imperfect in the best possible way. This collection blends traditional film photography with modern fine art presentation to create something that feels nostalgic, contemporary, and entirely unique all at once.

If you’re local to Marin County, I would love for you to stop by this San Anselmo art exhibit and experience the work in person this summer.
